The MATERNAL Program
A physician-supported residential program for expectant mothers managing chronic health conditions with care that feels like family.
Evidence-informed care over 7 or 14 days at The Retreat at MILK Maternity: physician monitoring, therapeutic nutrition, and step-by-step guidance from a team of licensed professionals whose only job is to help your body be in the best health possible for your new baby.
For women who are pregnant or in the pre-conception window.
Hypertension and preeclampsia history are among the leading causes of maternal complications. We address blood pressure through nutrition, movement, stress reduction, and physician monitoring.
Blood sugar before and during pregnancy affects fetal development, birth weight, and delivery outcomes. We address insulin sensitivity through whole-food nutrition, movement, and daily rhythms.
Weight that puts pregnancy at risk does not respond to willpower alone. It responds to environment, nutrition, sleep, stress, and support, all of which we address together.
Systemic inflammation is an underlying driver of many pregnancy complications. Our program uses food, water, rest, and therapeutic treatments as tools for reducing it.
Constipation, bloating, and gut dysfunction often worsen in pregnancy and can affect how your body absorbs the nutrients your baby needs. We address gut health from the inside out.
Elevated cholesterol increases cardiovascular risk, which can rise during pregnancy. Whole-plant nutrition is one of the most effective tools available for lowering LDL naturally.
Mental health is not separate from physical health, it is the same body. Our licensed therapist is part of your care team from day one.
You don't need a diagnosis to benefit. Many women come simply because they want to give their baby the healthiest possible start.
MATERNAL is a wellness and lifestyle program, not a substitute for ongoing obstetric or specialist care. Guests continue regular visits with their OB, midwife, or maternal-fetal medicine specialist throughout their stay and after.
Eight dimensions of healing.
Each one addressed. Every day.

Medical Director
Dr. Lindo is triple board-certified in Obstetrics & Gynecology, Urogynecology & Reconstructive Pelvic Surgery, and Lifestyle Medicine. She has spent her career treating women through pregnancy, pelvic health, and chronic disease, with a particular focus on how nutrition, movement, and daily habits shape long-term outcomes.
Dr. Lindo oversees the clinical framework behind every MATERNAL stay, from arrival vitals to discharge planning, working alongside our nursing, nutrition, and therapy team to make sure your time here is medically sound as well as restorative.
Every guest is seen by a member of our physician team at arrival and departure, with additional check-ins built into the 14-Day Transformation. Our nursing and clinical staff are on-site throughout your stay.
MATERNAL is designed to work alongside your OB, midwife, or primary care provider, not instead of them. If you are referred by your provider, we'll request relevant history and build a customized care plan before you arrive. If you're coming on your own, we'll still ask for your provider's contact information so we can coordinate as needed, with your permission.
At discharge, every guest receives a written summary of their stay. For the 14-Day Transformation, this includes a full lab review and a letter to your referring provider, so the people managing your pregnancy long-term have what they need to keep going where we leave off.
A note on scope of care: This is a residential wellness and lifestyle program, not a hospital or emergency medical facility. We are not a substitute for routine prenatal visits, ultrasounds, or labor and delivery care. Full medical protocols, eligibility, and exclusion criteria will be shared with applicants ahead of arrival.

Every day is intentionally designed to help you build healthier habits, improve your health, and leave with the confidence to continue your progress at home.
Each morning begins with a health check-in and a personalized plan for the day. Depending on your goals, your physician's recommendations, and your progress, your schedule may include guided movement, hydrotherapy, nutrition education, meal preparation, stress reduction techniques, and one-on-one coaching with your maternal wellness team.
Throughout the day, you'll enjoy scratch-made meals that demonstrate exactly how nourishing food can also be practical and delicious. Rather than simply following a meal plan while you're here, you'll learn how to recreate these meals, grocery shop with confidence, and build sustainable routines that fit your life.
Your days include a balance of education, hands-on practice, and time to recharge. You may participate in cooking demonstrations, lifestyle coaching, physician visits, counseling sessions, therapeutic treatments, or quiet reflection in the peaceful surroundings of the retreat. Every activity has a purpose, helping you understand not only what to do, but why it matters.
Many mothers begin noticing changes in their energy, sleep, blood sugar, blood pressure, or overall well-being during their stay, while developing the practical skills needed to continue those improvements long after returning home.
When you leave, you'll leave with new habits, personalized tools, and a clear plan for protecting your health through pregnancy, postpartum, and beyond.

Yes. The MATERNAL Program is physician-supported — your care plan is reviewed and approved by a board-certified physician before your stay begins. We work within your existing medical care, not outside of it. We encourage you to inform your OB or midwife that you are attending.
No. You are welcome to apply directly. However, if your provider has referred you, please mention it in your inquiry — it allows us to coordinate your care more completely, and your intake will be reviewed by our physician partner prior to arrival.
Every meal, every session, every treatment. Your room. All MATERNAL Framework programming. Physician consultations, massage, hydrotherapy, mental health therapy, movement, education, and your discharge home program. Nothing is added at checkout.
